5 Peaks trail running series comes to Golden
The final race of the 2014 5 Peaks Kootenay series will be hosted in Golden, BC at the famed Moonraker trails and Cedar Lake on 20th September, 2014. This event will include a half-marathon distance event that provides some good elevation challenge, and some amazing views into Canyon Creek. Don’t worry about overheating – Cedar Lake is a refreshing way to cool down after a long run.
Cedar Lake recreation area (and campground) is a great place to spend a weekend. Cedar Lake features the amazing Moonraker single track trail network and a fantastic lake for swimming after you've made your trail effort. The half-marathon course will be one large loop, including some of the most scenic views in the entire trail network.
5 Peaks events are more than just trail races. They are great celebrations of beautiful natural places, of the hard work runners put into training, of strength, and of family and community.
Don’t be intimidated. These runs are for everyone. All competitors are welcomed, whether you’re gunning to become a backcountry running champion or simply want to take on a new physical challenge, 5 Peaks is for you.
The Kootenay Series will feature some of the nicest mountain towns in BC’s Kootenay mountain range. From Kimberley to Fernie, Invermere, Golden and Revelstoke, enjoy the great coffee shops (and roasters!), the mountain vibe and the best trails. These events will be small and intimate in this inaugural year, so get in while the getting is good!
