Update August 21st 2024

Read the latest update from the Town of Golden.  

The Evacuation Alert issued on July 23, 2024 by the Golden and Area Emergency Management Program due to the Dogtooth (#N21427) wildfire near Parson has been rescinded to ALL CLEAR for all properties. In addition, the Evacuation Order for the properties at 4490 Thomas Rd., 2104 Hwy 95 S and Rauch Rd. has been rescinded and downgraded to all clear.

The Golden Visitor Centre has free N95 masks to give away to anyone concerned about air quality or smoke. Available while stocks last. 

The best way to keep track of reliable, up-to-date information during an emergency, including evacuation alerts or orders, is to monitor the Town of Golden website at www.golden.ca, the Town of Golden Facebook or Instagram. Also, you can sign up now for the Alertable system, which will issue Evacuation Order and Alert information to your smartphone, text, email or landline: https://www.csrd.bc.ca/alertable. Be sure to sign up in your locations for Columbia Shuswap Electoral Area A as well as the Town of Golden.

Highway 95 between Golden and Radium Hot Springs is open. Check the latest updates for travel advisories in the area and throughout the province at DriveBC.ca

Visitors in Golden and the surrounding area should keep advised of the situation by downloading the Alertable app to receive updates as they occur. 

For those planning on camping, several recreation sites have been closed, visit www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca to check if the recreation site you plan on visiting is still open.

Smoke density in the area can change from day to day, for a first-hand view of the conditions in Golden we recommend visiting the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort's live webcams

You can also check the smoke forecast with FireSmoke.ca
