Bugaboo Provincial Park

This ancient spine of the Purcell Mountains continues to draw climbers from around the world to its airy, glacier-sculpted granite spires. With many peaks over 3,000 meters, the Bugaboos offer awe-inspiring mountain and glacier terrain. The area represents mountain wilderness at its most rugged, and includes the largest icefields of the Purcells.

The first-ever commercial heli-ski week was pioneered here in 1965 by Hans Gmoser. In 1972, the Alpine Club of Canada erected the Conrad Kain Hut (named after the renowned alpinist) as a base for climbers. The Park is located in south-eastern B.C., between Golden and Radium Hot Springs. Access to the park is about 50km of gravel road from Hwy #95, starting 76 km south of Golden.
