Calgary Herald - Cowboys on the Kicking Horse
The Kicking Horse River is known for it's class 3 and 4 whitewater, but it is also a great adventure for families. Andrew Penner brought his family to experience a day on this waterway that keep people coming back for more.
"On a fairly benign stretch (and there weren’t that many) on the legendary Kicking Horse River, our rafting guide, Darren, suggested we play a little game. He called his twisted concoction “The Rodeo Game.” And, lo and behold, I was the first of the brainless buckaroos to participate. The idea was to stand — yes, stand — on the top edge of the raft at the very front of the boat while bouncing through the rapids. The goal was to stay upright for eight seconds without flying into the swirling, ice-cold water. Yee haw. Yippee ki-yay. Not surprisingly, I lasted approximately one second before my rude, or shall I say “very freaking cold,” awakening."
