Where Canadian Rockies - Dine Your Way Around Golden: Eleven 22
Golden is known for outdoor adventure—world class skiing and lift-assisted mountain biking at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, adrenaline-charged snowmobiling in the Purcell Mountains, rafting big rapids on the Kicking Horse River and loads more.
After an active day in the mountains when you’re as hungry as a grizzly bear that just awoke from a winter sleep, Golden will impress you yet again with its dining scene. Part one of this three-part feature focuses on Eleven22.
The food here will leave you happily full, but wishing desperately you had room for seconds. This 1904 house in downtown Golden—which cost $450 to build—is a local favourite for dinner and it’s easy to see why.
The menu features world fusion cuisine with Asian, Swiss and Rocky Mountain influences inspired by owner/chef Konan Mar’s Chinese and Swiss heritage. (The latter is evident elsewhere in Golden’s culture; Swiss mountain guides pioneered tourist forays into the Rockies at the turn of the 19th century).
