Nestled in between the silver-blue peaks of the Columbia Mountains and the Canadian Rockies, Golden is an authentic ski town that procures the feel of an alpine village. Located in the Kootenay region of south-eastern British Columbia, Golden has a range of outdoor winter activities, from sledding to snowshoeing to cross-country skiing.

Not only is Golden a place of spectacular scenery but it is an authentic mountain town offering a rich history and plenty of cultural experiences. Located in one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth. Golden is near six of the most stunning National Parks Canada has to offer (Banff, Glacier, Jasper, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke and Yoho).

Okay, that might be my motto but apparently it’s still working for me. What used to just be trips to the local ski resorts has turned into weekends and mini stay-cations in Golden, B.C. We gravitate to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to ski but have found a few more “Golden Gems” to amuse us when we decide not to ski. Here’s a quick list of family fun things to do in Golden.

For the second time this winter Jeff Bartlett pack up his truck and headed to Golden, BC. Over four days he explored the mountain paradise, skiing both the rest and backcountry, rode a fat bike and learned how to cross country ski at the Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre. 
Needless to say he wen't home happily exhausted.
